Piclataxel Drug-Coated Balloons vs. Stent Implantation
In the case of coronary artery disease, stent implantation is a longstanding procedure for treatment. In the US, the use of drug coated balloons (DCB) as an alternative treatment has yet to be approved due to long-term safety concerns. This long-term study conducted in the UK, reports the 5-year results of the use of paclitaxel DCB in the treatment of coronary artery disease. There were a total of 1517 participants in the study: 429 treated with paclitaxel DCB and 1088 treated with drug-eluting stent (DES).
